Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is used to remove soot from fuels. It has a shape of spatial structure with very large total area of walls. Porous structure of the wall placed between walls gives opportunity to permeate of exhaust fumes. Thanks to this structure Particle Matters are kept on the walls and on the bottom of blocked channels. Accumulation of Particle Matters in filter requires regular removing in order to avoid overfilling of filter and in consequence: obstruction of whole exhaust system.

There are two types of DPF: maintenance-free and demanding maintenance. In first of them temperature and pressure sensors regulate time of multiple fuel ejaculation which will cause burning soot accumulated in filter. In second case soot is burning thanks to special fuel supplement, which has to be replaced after every 80 000- 100 000 driven km.
